While on the surface this seems self-evident, its an important to question to ask yourself. One of the first things I ask a prospective client is “what do you wish to achieve by getting a Virtual Assistant?” The answer is not always a simple one. So rather tell you why you need a virtual assistant, I’ll ask you to ponder YOUR reasons.
The first thing that will often pop into a business owners mind is time. Utilizing a talented virtual assistant can help free you from a task-orientated existence so you can focus on big picture items. That in itself is worth its weight in gold, but I will again challenge you to go deeper still. Like a mystery novel author, start at the end and work your way to the beginning.
Is your goal growth? All businesses want to grow but with growth comes challenges. Are you prepared to meet those now or will the added business provide you with a new set of problems you need to deal with? I’ve had clients take on a telemarketer or social media manager who were successful in bringing more sales & revenue, only to find that their company was not prepared to deliver.
If growth is the ultimate goal list out all things your business needs to be order to sustain it. If you have 100 new potential clients visiting your website this week how will they perceive your business? Do you have the right message? Have you updated all mages & videos? Have you gone back and spot-checked for misspellings and other edits that leave a lasting impression on your audience?
I bring up these points because they are pitfalls I’ve come across as well. Experience is a good teacher and failure the best lesson. A new marketing strategy can produced a slew of new customers, but are you prepared to handle a rush of new clients? In business we only get one chance to make a first impression. If there are breakdowns occur you not only stand to lose that client, but ruin your reputation in the process.
